About the guide

Jonas Alseika

I am a guide from Neringa. I spent nine years working at Nida's Agila Culture and Tourism Information Centre. After answering so many questions about the spit, I know what interests visitors and what they find hard to understand.

  • I live and work here

    I did not learn Nida from books. I live and work here, so I know both what to show you and where to go in November, when half the doors are closed.

  • Facts rather than legends

    I make clear where knowledge ends and legend begins. The rest is documented history: how people earned a living, what they feared and why they stayed.

  • Only your own company

    I lead private tours for couples, families or small teams. You decide how often to stop and how fast to go, rather than following a bus timetable.

Frequently asked questions

Before sending an enquiry

  • How do I book a tour?
    Call, message on WhatsApp or complete the form. We agree on the date, time and itinerary, then I confirm the booking.
  • How far ahead should I book?
    In July and August, as early as possible, ideally several days ahead. In spring and autumn a day or two may be enough. Ask any time; if I am free, I can guide.
  • Do you guide large groups?
    I guide small private groups. If yours is larger than a usual travelling party, contact me and I will tell you whether I can accommodate it.
  • Which languages are tours available in?
    Lithuanian, English and Russian. Specify your preference in your enquiry.
  • What if it is raining?
    We go. Fog and rain can make the spit more interesting than midsummer. Only forecast storms or dangerous wind prevent a tour; then I contact you to reschedule.
  • Can the itinerary fit my interests?
    Yes. A short phone conversation or exchange of messages shapes the route. It stays flexible, so we can linger wherever you wish.
  • Are tours suitable for families with children?
    Usually yes, depending on age and the tour. Some involve dune climbs and longer walks; others are level enough for pushchairs. Tell me the children's ages and I will suggest the best option.
